Blurred Lines

we were all taught to color
within the lines
and to see only black and white

but the lines feel contrived
predictable and at times
precarious and missing out on tone and tinge is unsighted
why comply?

how others follow the absurdity of it all is
beyond me

so I color over the edges
making a mess of things

this drives them crazy, sometimes hysterical
but why should they care?
stay in their line
if that is
waiting
in the right place

getting so hot and bothered
makes me think they might be
sweating envy
with nothing but fear
holding them inside the belly of caged limits

color improperly if they want
but enough with the judgement already
